Acupuncture may soon be alternative to opioids for pain relief

A study conducted by researchers from the Doña Mercedes Primary Health Centre in Spain has discovered that fibromyalgia patients may find relief from the chronic pain after attending nine weekly sessions of personalized acupuncture for 20 minutes per session. The study titled “Acupuncture for fibromyalgia in primary care: a randomised controlled trial” was published online on February 15, 2016 in the journal Acupuncture in Medicine. The researchers also concluded that the patients felt the benefits of personalized acupuncture until a year later. Read more
